How are you spending Spring Break this year?

Hey man, now you're really livin'

Brian Rhee ~ Opinions Editor

There are 72 days left until graduation. This year has flown by so quickly, yet life is so still and slow. Everything feels so stagnant and stale. Sometimes it feels like life has lost all its flavor, like the salt at the bottom of the barrel.

As students, many of us spend so much time stressing about grades and the whole idea of college prep and trying to figure out what we want to do with the rest of our lives. And every so often horrible things happen to us. We fail tests and projects, go through bad break-ups, get fired from our jobs, and run into money problems.

It feels so easy to just give up and crawl into a hole. It’s easier to just barely slide by everyday. It’s easy to live life everyday not caring about anything or anyone. To use people for interesting conversation pieces and throw them away like they’re dispensable.

We don’t realize that we’re lucky to be young, and we sit and complain about all of the problems in life that are so miniscule compared to all of the things that people face later on.

It’s a lesson that is really cliché, but you really should take in life for what it is. That includes all of the bad things that have caused you so much pain and made life such an unsavory experience. Looking back on all of your mistakes and all of the things that caused you to worry will lend perspective and contribute to building an overall better person.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that you should just sit down and take every beating that comes your way…You should still attempt to get yourself out of that hole that you’re in, and lose the girl while you’re at it. Life sucks, just ask Gandhi…but hey, even he made it out alive. There are 72 days until graduation, and my life has never been lovelier.
